Walkway/Stonework Maintenance

There are a few signs that you may need maintenance done on your stonework. Here are some things to check for:

  1. Check locking sand. Do you have pavers/stones that wobble or make noise when you walk on them. This is a good sign that you need new sand. Without keeping up with this maintenance, not only can it be dangerous, but during the winter, it can cause cracking.

  2. Seal your pavers. It isn't just wood that needs to be sealed. Pavers also require sealing in order to resist the elements and de-icing chemicals. (Example below of sealed pavers vs unsealed pavers)

  3. Drainage. During a rain storm, check to see if you are getting any water build up on your pavers. Puddles on your pavers will cause damage over time.
